What the course covers
Section 1: The Coach
The game has changed and so has coaching. Coaching in the modern game requires coaches to reevaluate their approach, their style and their knowledge. In this module, we cover various coaching characteristics, discuss the art and science of coaching and help coaches communicate more effectively with individuals and teams. It is our ability to understand ourselves as coaches and the role we play in setting up safe, fun and positive environments which will foster a love for the game and development of players at all ages and standards.
Section 2: The Player
Players have differing needs depending on skill, personality and motivations. Understanding these nuances enables a coach to be able to connect with the player and aid him or her in development and growth of their games. Using an adapted Long Term Athlete Development model, we uncover what truly makes a player tick and how to get the best out of players at any stage of the game. The intersection of what the player feels and what the coach sees is where the gold of coaching lies, in this module we pull back the curtain on understanding the player and facilitate learning accordingly.
